Dog-friendly Newry, Warrenpoint & Rostrevor
For Dave's birthday last year, we spent the weekend in Carlingford. While we had researched a lot of dog-friendly places, we were completely blown away by the number of dog-friendly walks and places for food and drink just over the border. Northern Ireland is a dog-friendly haven of beautiful walks, delicious eateries and the most adorable little coffee shops!
Hike in Kilbroney Park
Without a doubt, this was the find of the trip! We checked out of our Airbnb and drove north to Rostrevor to Kilbroney Park. Beautiful forest trails, stunning views, and all the facilities you could want. I think next time we visit Rostrevor we will camp here! It definitely helped that the weather was absolutely stunning!
After our beautiful hike in Kilbroney Park and started to drive back to Rostrevor. The traffic was horrendous! So, so heavy and not a parking space in sight! There are a lot of dog-friendly places in Rostrevor but we'll have to try these next time. I think with the sunny weather everyone was coming to Rostrevor but it meant we left Rostrevor and headed back to Newry.
Some of the spots we want to try:
- Pawfect Paws - a dog bakery! We were there over a Bank Holiday weekend and unfortunately, they were closed but this is definitely a must next time! A bakery!! FOR DOGS!
Grounded, Newry
We were so delighted to find a wonderful dog-friendly cafe back in Newry to refuel before our drive back to Wicklow. The staff were so, so lovely and so welcoming! They even made Fiadh her very first Puppucinio. After we scoffed down our coffee and food, it was time to hit the road and head back to Wicklow.
Some other dog-friendly spots we will be visiting in Newry next time:
